The Institute for Environmental Research and Education (IERE) is a Vashon, WA non-profit institution that provides tools and training to support environmental decision-making.

IERE conducts life cycle assessment (LCA) classes, disseminates science-based tools for evaluating the environmental performance of products and services, performs environmental assessments, and publishes educational material regarding renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.  IERE will use their 1.1-kW solar-electric system, and the related web-based live data, to enhance the Institute’s renewable energy curriculum.

The system was financed by a contribution from Puget Sound Energy (PSE).  PSE's funding for this project was made possible at no additional cost to its customers through a unique collaboration with the BEF and the use of the Conservation and Renewables Discount program offered by the Bonneville Power Administration.
